HOA Board addresses Morse Landing dispute in HOA meeting

  • Dispute With Morse Landing & Cicero

At an August 19th HOA meeting, the Board president said a fence to block off Morse Landing had been considered. She said the Board had not decided what to do and was working with the Town on the pond dispute.

Farr said that Morse Landing had “just blasted us” at Town Hall over weeds around Pond 4:

“At one point, we thought we were going to put a fence up there and just block off Morse Landing completely and say it's not your problem now,” Farr told homeowners.

HOA President Jacquie Farr, communicating with Tamarack homeowners

These comments came just one night after the August 18 Town Council meeting, where the Board President had said Tamarack was going to “put up a fence” and “no trespassing” signs between the two neighborhoods.

The Board had not settled on a plan

At the HOA meeting, the president described the fence as one possible approach. She also said no-trespassing signs were planned, citing use of the pond and concerns about liability.

“We don't know yet as a board what we're going to do because the town council's being so nice about this and working with us on this,” she said. Another comment from the same meeting:

“I didn't want you guys to hear it and think that we were hiding the fact that we got this nasty ass letter.”

A violation letter over the pond

The president said Tamarack had intentionally let weeds grow while working with experts, scientists and environmentalists on erosion control.

The violation letter itself has not been made available. Cicero's weed rule allows a fine of up to $500 plus costs, with each day treated as a separate offense. That is the rule's limit, not a reported fine against Tamarack. According to the HOA, “We are not being fined.”

The fence came up again at the September 1 Town Council meeting.
